Fannie Thomas Parker Scholarship Fund

Mrs. Fannie Thomas Parker was born in Smithville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Thomas and Fannie McRae Thomas.

At a very early age, her family moved to Portsmouth, Virginia, where she received her early education. After her father passed, the family moved to Richmond County, North Carolina. Later, Mrs. Parker moved to High Point, North Carolina, where she attended school and completed William Penn High School. Mrs. Parker remained in High Point and married the late William Clyde Parker, and the couple had nine children.

Always reaching out beyond family duties to many others, Mrs. Parker was a dedicated and loyal employee of Stanley Furniture for 38 years. She served in the position of assistant to the showroom manager.

Mrs. Parker acquired a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and was a supporter of civic and community activities such as The United Negro College Fund, United Way, Easter Seals, March of Dimes, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Muscular Dystrophy Association and others.

Mrs. Parker was a staunch supporter of education and exemplified this fact through the push and effort she gave all her children and grandchildren in their accomplishments in higher education.

Fannie Thomas Parker Endowed Scholarship Fund Criteria

Scholarships from the Fannie Thomas Parker Scholarship Endowment Fund will be awarded to deserving students as determined by the University Scholarship Committee based on the criteria cited below. In making the selection, this committee shall consider such attributes as scholarship, leadership, community service, exceptional talent and financial need. The committee shall give special selection consideration to:
• Students from the State of North Carolina
• Students enrolled at N.C. A&T for a minimum of two semesters with a sophomore standing and a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Preference will be given to majors in the Arts, Theatre and Music with characteristics of service to the community and N.C. A&T
