Dr. Sung H. Yoon Endowed Scholarship
The Dr. Sung H. Yoon Endowed Scholarship Fund in Computer Science was created by the family, friends, colleagues and students of late Dr. Sung H. Yoon, a professor in the Department of Computer Science at North Carolina A&T State University. He served as a faculty member of the Department of Computer Science for seven years until his untimely death in May 2007. Dr. Yoon taught classes in graphics, wireless security and software engineering. His dedication to students was clear and remarkable, making him beloved by many of them.
As a researcher, Dr. Yoon was a leading professor in the areas of wireless security and software engineering and trained many graduate students with his funded research projects whose total funding was almost a million dollars at N. C. A&T. As Dr. Yoon strongly believed in interdisciplinary research, he promoted it vigorously and practiced it himself by frequently collaborating with other researchers in the College of Engineering. He earned patents and published many scholarly papers in journals and conference proceedings. His dedication to students and scholarly works certainly enhanced the image of North Carolina A&T.
Dr. Yoon was a devoted Christian. He was a member of the Korean First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, serving as an active elder, a Bible class teacher and as a mentor to many young adults. He was married to the former Imsoon Lee, and they had two children.
