Small Farms Week 2019 will be held March 24-30 with workshops, tours, farming demonstrations and other events. The 33rd-annual celebration of small-scale agriculture will kick off with panel discussions and farm tours March 25 in Duplin County, home of the 2018 N.C. Small Farmer of the Year. The observance continues March 26-28 at A&T, with educational workshops, demonstrations and a March 27 luncheon where the 2019 Small Farmer of the Year will be announced. The luncheon will also feature remarks by Howard Conyers, Ph.D., a NASA engineer, barbecue pitmaster and broadcaster who grew up on a small farm in South Carolina and earned his bachelor’s degree at N.C. A&T.
