Small Farms Field Day

The Cooperative Extension Program at N.C. A&T will hold Small Farms Field Day, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the university farm located at 3136 McConnell Road.

Small Farms Field Day is an annual free event that showcases research and demonstration projects with a focus on sustainable agricultural practices that help small and limited-resource farmers increase their profits.

In addition to farm tours, the day will feature numerous demonstrations, including:

  • Equipment and Small Machines for Small Farms
  • Ginger: How to Grow, Add Value & Make it Profitable
  • Industrial Hemp: CBD Varieties and Fertility
  • Raising Resilient Goats
  • Beef Cattle: Productivity and Income
  • Displays and Presentations
  • Making Money to Grow Organic Vegetables
  • Heir-Property: Issues for Small Farmers and Woodland Owners
  • Food Safety Modernization Act: What You Need to Know
  • Injuries in Agriculture: A Comparison to Other Industries
  • Fit Farmers, Fit Families, Fit Fields
  • Cookies Made with Grape Seeds and Skins
  • Onion Peel: Reducing Obesity and Inflammation
  • Low-Fat Fried Foods and Human Health
  • Reducing Ammonia from Poultry Litter in Broiler Chicken Houses
  • Producing High-Value Bio-Fertilizers

The event will be held rain or shine and will include lunch.
