Faculty Fellows

Faculty Fellows at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University is a signature program that offers experience and dedication to the development of faculty teaching and student learning through peer support.  The Faculty Fellows consists of faculty members representing all ranks and colleges at NC A&T.  The goal is to offer support through peer mentoring and program development in each College.  Faculty Fellows provide the experience, creativity, and credibility necessary to promote excellence in teaching and learning at NC A&T.

Faculty apply for these positions and selection is based on faculty's expertise, their record of excellent teaching and recommendation(s) from their College.  Opportunities for up to 8 Faculty Fellows exists at NC A&T.  Fellows are appointed annually for terms up to 3 years.  Fellows agree to offer support through individual and small group learning teams in their respective colleges.  They also develop a campus-wide project or workshop each year as part of their commitment to the CTE.

Call for Faculty Fellows

The Center for Teaching Excellence is seeking applications for the position of Faculty Fellow for the Spring Semester, 2019; Summer Session I or II; and Fall, 2019. Candidates for these positions are faculty who possess a passion and strong interest in teaching. Fellows will serve as peer leaders who desire to make significant contributions to faculty development in teaching & learning at NCAT. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in teaching, learning, technology, and faculty development, demonstrated excellence in teaching, strong interpersonal skills, and innovative thinking related to teaching and learning in the academy.

Fellows will participate in the broader workings of the center. The expectation of the program is that the selected faculty will work with the CTE Director to determine professional development needs in across campus. They will develop and submit a work plan approved of by the Director of the CTE. Fellows will attend regularly scheduled professional development meetings hosted by the CTE. They will serve as a mentor/support for other faculty and offer programming geared toward improving the teaching skills of others. They will also chose a project (to be determined in collaboration with the Director of the CTE) and will produce annual deliverables including a university-wide workshop on their topic, and/or an (article, white paper, learning module) for future faculty use.

Faculty Fellows will receive a stipend for Spring and Summer terms. For Fall, 2019, Fellows may be eligible for a course release.

Faculty Fellows appointments are appointed for three semesters.

  •  Letter of Intent in which you: 1) outline what you feel you have to offer the CTE; 2) name areas of interest and expertise in teaching and learning and offer examples of how you have demonstrated commitment to student success and to on-going professional development related to teaching and learning at NCAT.

  • A Letter of recommendation from a peer or student showing support for you as a FF
