Luba Kurkalova

Dr. Kurkalova has received over $8.4 million in research grants from the USDA and NSF. She is currently leading several multidisciplinary research projects assessing the interactions between bioenergy technologies and energy and agricultural markets. Her research has focused on the development of econometric models of farming practices and on application of the models to the economic and environmental assessment of the nexus between bioenergy, environmental, and agricultural policies. She currently leads the economic analysis effort in the Bioenergy Center at NC A&T State University.

Kurkalova’s research has been published in a variety of economics and interdisciplinary journals including Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Environmental Modeling and Software, Journal of the American Water Resources Association, Ecological Applications, and Biomass and Bioenergy. In 2007, she has received the Outstanding Journal Article award from the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society. She is the recipient of the outstanding interdisciplinary research award at NC A&T State University in 2014.
