Dr. Rogers is the son of Retired Air Force Colonel James H. Rogers. He was born in Munich, Germany while his father was stationed there in 1959. Dr. Rogers has traveled extensively throughout both the United States and the world. He attended high school just outside of Oxford, England. Dr. Rogers had thirteen years of managerial experience before moving into the academic community. He has extensive experience in resort development, specifically in the areas food and beverage and restaurant design. He has developed several restaurants from design and construction through opening. Dr. Rogers is also a semi-trained chef. He was a commercial banker for a number of years and relies on this experience extensively in both his teaching and research. Dr. Rogers has a BSBA in management and a MBA in finance and small business management from Western Carolina University. He completed his doctorate at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with a major in strategic management/corporate strategy and a minor in research methods. He has published research in such leading management journals as the Strategic Management Journal, the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Strategies, and the IBM Systems Journal. His education and research have led to consulting work with such firms as Sea Ray Boats, Maryville Memorial Hospital, and Electronic Data Systems. His particular areas of interest are strategic management, strategic information systems, decision making, and human motivation
