The North Carolina A&T Teacher Residency program prepares classroom teachers in secondary STEM education, K-6 Elementary Education, and K-12 Special Education for instructional leadership in high-need North Carolina rural schools.

How is the North Carolina A&T Teacher Residency Program Unique?

The North Carolina A&T Teacher Residency program selects and prepares individuals who have undergraduate degrees from accredited four-year institutions with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 and who desire to attain a North Carolina teaching license. Unlike the traditional educator preparation program, the Teacher Residency program does the following: 

  • Assists candidates with earning a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree in mathematics, chemistry, biology, elementary education, or special education.
  • Places the candidate in an elementary, middle, or high school on a full-time basis from August to June during the academic year.
  • Pays each candidate a stipend while working in the specified school.
  • Pairs the candidate with a highly qualified mentor classroom teacher who serves as a clinical educator and an instructional coach who provides ongoing support.

The North Carolina A&T Teacher Residency program seeks specific individuals who seek to attain a North Carolina teaching license and who adhere to the following characteristics:

  • College seniors, recent college graduates, and teaching assistants with a bachelor degree
  • Professionals with college degrees interested in changing careers to the teaching profession

Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T Hosts 2018 Grassroots Leadership Conference

Cooperative Extension at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and its Strategic Planning Council, will connect real people with real issues and strategies during an upcoming forum in Greensboro. The 2018 Grassroots Leadership Conference, will be held from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Alumni-Foundation Event Center, 200 N. Benbow Road, in Greensboro and will focus on the theme, “Access Granted: Healthy Outcomes for Our Communities.”

N.C. A&T to Participate in NC Free College Application Week

Prospective students from North Carolina high schools and community colleges can apply to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University free of charge, Oct. 15 – 19, 2018. The opportunity comes as a part of the College Foundation of North Carolina’s (CFNC) annual campaign to support college access.
