Mission and Vision of the College of Education

To prepare exemplary educators and human service professionals to lead and engage in the local community and on the global stage.

The College of Education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will be the academic entity of choice for the preparation of education leaders and will be the organization to which K-12 schools, non-profit organizations, businesses, and corporations seek to resolve problematic issues impacting society, including health and wellness, student academic performance, equity, access, and advocacy.

Achieving the Mission and Vision

The College of Education is a learning centered organization that prepares a variety of educators and human services professionals and supports their continuing professional development. Building on our Historically Black College and University (HBCU) legacy of exemplary teaching and scholarship, as well as effective public service, we offer degrees at the baccalaureate, master's, and doctorial levels. Our graduates are catalysts for learning and leading in diverse contexts who engage in collaborative practice with key stakeholders from local to global communities.

We believe in preparing future educators for careers defined by excellence, instilling in our students a lifelong passion for public service, and emphasizing the importance of collaboration with all the key stakeholders in education, in both local and global communities.

The Department of Educator Preparation provides the professional studies component for the next generation of effective teachers and school personnel who will work with 21st century learners from diverse backgrounds.

Studies in the Department of Counseling are grounded in philosophical, theoretical, methodological, and practical foundations that describe adult education, counseling practice, or leadership.

The Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education is an interdisciplinary unit that focuses on service learning, research, developing innovative practices, and solving complex challenges through leadership.

Excellent instruction and our internship program are the keys to helping NC A&T students grow as educators from pre-service to in-service teachers, counselors, administrators, and other school personnel.
