Scholars Latino Initiative (SLI) Program

The Scholars Latino Initiative (SLI) program was founded in 2003 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to promote educational equity and excellence for promising Latino high school students grades 10-12. Participating students receive the tools to access higher education opportunities through a three-year mentoring program. SLI students work with their mentors and engage in college prep sessions, early college classes, campus visits to diverse universities throughout the state, cultural enrichment activities and public service opportunities.

In 2011, North Carolina A&T State University introduced the Scholars Latino Initiative program to NC A&T under the leadership of the Multicultural Students Center and the Division of Student Affairs. Current participating students attend Ben L. Smith High School.
