Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Galen A. Foresman is an Associate Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Liberal Studies at North Carolina A&T State University. He is a Teagle Assessment Scholar with the Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts through Wabash College, and despite his dearth of statistical prowess, he won the title of “Assessment Genius” in a judged university assessment competition during the summer 2012 Teagle Scholar Development Workshop at Franklin Pierce University. He was a co-director of the Wabash Provost Scholars Program at NC A&T SU, and he has presented numerous times on conducting student led focus groups to faculty and administrators from around the country, including a 2010 presentation with A&T students in San Francisco at the annual AAC&U conference. In 2013, Dr. Foresman was honored with the Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award for College of Arts and Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University.

His disciplinary research is in ethics, applied ethics, and value theory, but he has recently published on differences between faculty and student led Supplemental Instruction in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) journal, Mountain Rise. In October of 2013 he published Supernatural and Philosophy for The Pop-Culture and Philosophy series through Wiley-Blackwell, and he’s currently working to complete The Critical Thinkers Toolkit with Peter Fosl and Jamie Watson, expected Fall 2016.
