Biography

Dr. Claudette Smith is the family-resource management specialist for The Cooperative Extension Program, School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at N.C. A&T State University. In addition to her degrees, Smith is also an instructional designer and is certified as an instructional technologist.

Smith’s programming targets financial management and consumer decision-making skill development among low-income, minority and youth audiences. She has conducted training and designed Cooperative Extension programs for these audiences for more than 30 years.

Smith’s programming awards include the Excellence in Extension Award -1890 Region, presented by the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities; the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Collaboration Award; the 1890 Innovative Program Award and the Award of Excellence in Extension from the N.C. A&T Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta, The Honor Society for Agriculture. Smith was also the convener and member of the N.C. A&T team that created and won the 2010 4-H National Science Experiment national competition.
