Timothy Gowers' Homepage - Cambridge University Fields Medalist who has elegant and lucid essays on such subjects as continuity, the square root of 2, solving analysis problems etc. (There is no Nobel Prize for Mathematics. A Fields Medal is considered the equivalent). His book "A Very Short Introduction to Mathematics" should be required reading for anyone contemplating a career in the subject. And for many other people too come to that.
