University Studies Committees (Fall 2003 - Fall 2005)

Prior to the hiring of a Dean of University Studies, general education review and revision was led initially (beginning in the spring of 2002) by a General Education Core Curriculum Review Committee. Most members of this committee became members of the reconstituted General Education Review Committee (fall 2003) and later, the University Studies Review Committee.

The University Studies Review Committee (also known as the University Studies Committee) met biweekly on the first and third Wednesday of each month. These meetings were open to all faculty, administrators, and staff. Visitors were welcome to join in the discussion, but only Committee members could vote on Committee matters.

The University Studies Executive Committee met biweekly on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, with additional meetings scheduled as necessary. These meetings were intended as working meetings for the Executive Committee in preparation for upcoming full University Studies Review Committee meetings.

University Studies Faculty Roundtable (Fall 2005 - )

The University Studies Faculty Roundtable, the University Studies' curriculum oversight committee, makes certification recommendations to the Dean of University Studies for inclusion of courses and thematic clusters in the University Studies program. In addition, the Faculty Roundtable will assess courses to ensure that they are meeting University Studies goals and objectives. The Faculty Roundtable is composed of two faculty members from each school/college, one appointed by that school/college's Dean and the other elected by the faculty within the school/college. This group began meeting in fall, 2005.
