The SBP is designed to give you a jump start on your freshman year experience, assist you in becoming acclimated to the University, and provide the academic assistance you will need to be successful throughout your college career.

The Summer Bridge Program is a 10-day residential experience that provides academic instruction in English, reading, math, and science. These are the courses you will take in your first year. The SBP also provides college coping skills workshops, career exploration seminars, cultural, team-building and recreational activities, and field trips. In addition, you will be able to complete New Student Orientation, placement testing, advisement for classes, and registration during your 12 residential experience.

By participating in the Summer Bridge Program (SBP), you will become a participate of the Student Support Services (SSS) Program and receive the services listed above throughout the entire academic year. Participation in this program is a unique opportunity that is limited to only 25 entering freshmen. The only cost you will incur will be your orientation fee. All meal. room and board in the residence halls, and resource materials will be paid by the Program for a period of 11 days. The only requirements are that you register for the New Student Orientation scheduled for June 25- 26, 2008, pay your required orientation fees, complete the enclosed SBP and SSSP applications and submit a copy of your parents’ 2007 federal tax returns by Friday May 30, 2008. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come served basis. Any applications received after this deadline may not be considered for processing.

We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. Therefore, get a JUMP-START on your college experience, become familiar with the campus, and prepare for life after high school.

Remember, we can only accommodate 25 students. So apply for the Summer Bridge Program today. We look forward to hearing from you.
