About Us
The Office of Summer Sessions and Outreach comprises an integral component of the regular program of study provided by the University. These sessions facilitate study aimed at meeting a wide range of educational, career, and personal enrichment goals for a diverse population. Sessions are specifically designed for community-wide accommodation through courses, workshops, and programs with special attention to diversity among populations of youth and adults, including retirees. Both the high standards of academic achievement and quality of work requisite during regular school terms are maintained in all summer sessions. Consequently, summer study contributes toward completion of course credits and residence requirements for undergraduate and graduate degree candidates, and certification requirements of teachers and other professional personnel. Additionally, summer matriculation satisfies requirements for attaining further educational goals.
A primary function of the Office of Summer Sessions and Outreach is planning, coordinating, and administering undergraduate and graduate courses of study along with a variety of workshops, seminars and outreach programs and activities. Summer sessions are structured to boost student participation by offering an extensive range of degree-related courses. Accordingly, the University’s four-year graduation rate is significantly enhanced through summer sessions.
Summer programs feature several convenient sessions of varying lengths: two five-week sessions; one two-week intersession; and one 10-week dual session. Students may enroll in a maximum of seven credits in each five-week session and the dual session, and one three-credit hour course during the intersession.
