| In 1999 the United
States Department of Education, with the support of Congress
developed an initiative that addressed the need to help educators
gain the needed knowledge and skills to both use and incorporate
technology into the teaching/learning process. North
Carolina A & T State University developed the Technology
aNd Teaching Workshop Series with funds from an
implementation grant from the Department of Education and as a
partner to a catalyst grant with the State of North Carolina.
During the Spring
2002 semester, a series of short workshops introduced a variety of
technology related topics to educators who work with the
preservice teachers at North Carolina A & T State
University. In June 2002, two one-week intensive workshops
were held.
The first spring
series of Technology aNd Teaching workshops were held on Wednesday
and Friday afternoons during the spring semester. Faculty
could participate in short workshops to learn a variety of
technology skills.
From June 10 - 14,
2002 a weeklong intensive T N T Workshop - Activity Development
for the Integration of Technology. During this week
participants developed lessons based upon NETs that incorporated
the state licensure standards, INTASC, and other appropriate
standards. The lessons were specifically designed to be used
in the professional education courses taken by all preservice
teachers at North Carolina A & T State University. In
addition, participants created WebQuests that could be used in
either the K-12 or university setting.
For the 2001 - 2002
year, the project received $239,041 from the U. S. Department of
Education, which is 49% of the total cost of the project.
The $252,012 or 51% is provided by North Carolina
Agricultural and Technical State University and the Professional
Development Partnership Schools. These web pages do not
