In 1999 the United States Department of Education, with the support of Congress developed an initiative that addressed the need to help educators gain the needed knowledge and skills to both use and incorporate technology into the teaching/learning process.  North Carolina A & T State University developed the Technology aNd Teaching Workshop Series with funds from an implementation grant from the Department of Education and as a partner to a catalyst grant with the State of North Carolina.

During the Spring 2002 semester, a series of short workshops introduced a variety of technology related topics to educators who work with the preservice teachers at North Carolina A & T State University.  In June 2002, two one-week intensive workshops were held.

The first spring series of Technology aNd Teaching workshops were held on Wednesday and Friday afternoons during the spring semester.  Faculty could participate in short workshops to learn a variety of technology skills.

From June 10 - 14, 2002 a weeklong intensive T N T Workshop - Activity Development for the Integration of Technology.  During this week participants developed lessons based upon NETs that incorporated the state licensure standards, INTASC, and other appropriate standards.  The lessons were specifically designed to be used in the professional education courses taken by all preservice teachers at North Carolina A & T State University.  In addition, participants created WebQuests that could be used in either the K-12 or university setting.

For the 2001 - 2002 year, the project received $239,041 from the U. S. Department of Education, which is 49% of the total cost of the project.  The $252,012 or 51%  is provided by North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the Professional Development Partnership Schools.  These web pages do not necessarily represent the policy of the Department of Education or imply endorsement by the Federal Government.
