CHAIR

The Chair of the NC A&T State University Staff Senate is Clarence William Page.  Clarence works in the Department of Housing and Residence Life.

During his first term in office Clarence focused on uniting the Staff Senate and making it more user friendly.  He organized a concentrated effort to inform A&T Staff Senators and their constituents of the possible effects proposed NC Senate Bill 788 could (if enacted) have on workers who are under the State Personnel Act (SPA).  He held an email seminar and led the Staff Senate in pulling together a documentary response to issues posed by the Bill.  As a result, many A&T staff members became more knowledgable of the provisions of the current SPA and possible ramifications of the proposed bill.

Clarence has urged the Staff Senate to be positively proactive rather than having to  be responsively  and negatively reactive.  He has urged the Senators to find venues for increasing the effectiveness of staff members.  One method he says he believes will work is the presentation of staff improvement seminars.  Some A&T Staff Senators are already working on such presentations.

Clarence has urged the Staff Senators to do more investigative research and present proposals that will enhance the University community.  Staff Senators Amy Bell, Sharon Neal, Jerrell Taylor and Vergie Brinson successfully led in the presentation of grant writing seminars.  Other Staff Senators are investigating other staff improvement venues.  Vergie Brinson has agreed to present noonday technology enhancements skill sessions.  Those sessions will be open to all members of our University family.
