Greensboro, NC: Valorie McAlpin, director of North Carolina A&T's Agricultural Communications, moderated a live national videoconference entitled, "Changing Expectations of Faculty Roles and Responsibilities."


The videoconference, broadcast from Clemson University, was third in a six-part series entitled, "21st Century Land-Grant Universities: Action on Issues."


Special guests on the videoconference's panel included Dr. Dolores
Spikes, President of the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore and Dr. Eugene Rice, Director of the Forum on Faculty Roles and Rewards, American Association of Higher Education.


With some 50 sites receiving the satellite broadcast, the panel discussed such issues as redefining scholarship and connecting the academy to the community. For more information on these issues, refer to the ADEC Web site at http://www.adec.edu


The series is a collaborative effort sponsored by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, Clemson University College of Engineering and Science, ADEC Distance Learning Consortium, Council for Agricultural Science and Technology, and National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges.
