Greensboro, NC: Dr. Daniel D. Godfrey, dean of NC A&T's School of Agriculture, recently traveled to Washington, DC, to participate in a roundtable discussion, "An Education Initiative for Africa."

The discussion, which was held at the White House, was scheduled in preparation for President Clinton's visit to Africa last month.

"The A&T School of Agriculture has a long history of collaboration with African countries," said Godfrey, who cites work with the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Fort Hare on developing a "taught" master's degree in agricultural economics, and exploration of possible distance education linkages with South Africa's University of the North and University of Zululand, as examples of such collaboration.

"The Clinton administration's commitment to investigating projects in Africa is a step in the right direction, and we at A&T are behind any initiatives where our involvement is appropriate," said Godfrey.
