Do the S.M.A.R.T Thing!

The NC A&T State University School of Education and Teaching Fellows Program have implemented the S.M.A.R.T Enrichment Program Literacy Tutorial as a means of providing reading and writing assistance to students who are considered “at risk” and need help with passing their End of Grade tests, while simultaneously encouraging them to develop a greater sense of civic engagement and responsibility. 

The tutorial is held twice weekly, for 1.5 hours a session, on NC A&T’s campus, for a total of 30 hours each semester. Tutors are trained in the SMART “Service Learning & Literacy Tutorial” Model, which focuses on helping to remediate students in reading and writing skills, through the use of research based best practice methods, and service projects.
