School of Education Technology Services (SOETS)

Overview

The SOETS services support the mission and programs of the School of Education through computer and technical consultation, training, resources, and maintenance of the technology infrastructure of the school.

The School of Education Information Technology Services (SOETS) provides resources, technical assistance, equipment and training to assist the faculty, staff and students for the school's educational programs. This includes support for media services ,instructional technology, teaching and learning.

Services


The division provides flexible services to enable the school's community to respond to the dynamic requirements of its mission, programs, and learning environment.

The information and technology services:

  1. Provide technical and computer consultation and maintenance of the hardware, software and network infrastructure of the School of Education;
  2. Provide training and development of faculty, staff and students to support improved computer and technical knowledge and skills;
  3. Provide consultation and training for instructional design to foster dynamic learning environments for teaching and learning;
  4. Provide a suite of IT services and resources that enable the school to engage with the external educational communities and friends of the school

Staff

The School of Education Technology Services (SOETS) has two full-time professional personnel. Part-time staff members may be assigned by the school and/or university. These services are carried out through workshops, seminars, group and individual consultations, training, and technical assistance.

These services may include:

  • consultation for technology integration and instructional design in the face-to-face and online learning environments;
  • in-class, group or individual training in the use of software and technologies;
  • network infrastructure, software and hardware support and maintenance;

              and, video conferencing;

  • educational software evaluations/recommendations;
  • software/hardware support
  • access to training via the Web
