Washington Elementary School 2006-2007
The grant-funded project:
“Evenings with Parents Workshops: Literacy and Math Make It and Take It” was another project coordinated by Gilyard, who is working on her Master of School Administration (MSA) at A&T.
Thanks to a PDS grant and collaboration with A&T’s Master of School Administration Program, the school is able to offer childcare and transportation with the series of workshops, which will offer motivation to parents and allow them to make hands-on math and literacy materials they can use at home to help their child.
The expected results:
Parents become active participants in their children’s education, which will improve student performance. The project also will provide data on appropriate resources, strategies and activities that allow parents with such restraints to become more involved. | | |
