The role of the Advisory Board is carried out in committee structure whereby members of the board volunteer to chair and/or participate on a specific committee.
The role and responsibilities of the Advisory Board are found in the commitment to the School of Education and its leadership in the following capacities:
Advocacy
The goal of the advisory board is to provide specific venues for on-going positive support for the School of Education. It is essential to have advocates who understand the mission and work of the school.
Recruitment
The goal is to help the SOE identify and recruit outstanding students, faculty and staff to support the programs. Moreover, this committee might assist in identifying scholarship support and other amenities to support the recruitment process.
Resources
The goal of this committee is to identify funds for the school through various venues such as alumni giving, grants, gifts, special initiatives and to attract scholarships and other resources to recruit and support the preparation of teachers, counselors, adult educators, instructional technologists, fitness/wellness and recreation directors, and principals.
Programs
The goal of this committee is to support the development of new initiatives for the improvement of programs in education, including school personnel, adult education and physical fitness, health, wellness and recreation.
