Alpha Tau Omega Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota

Formed in January of 1985, Chi Sigma Iota is an International Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society. It was established in order to create a link between students, educators, practitioners and supervisors in various counseling settings. The objective of Chi Sigma Iota is “to promote scholarship, research, professionalism and excellence in counseling, and to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the field of counseling.” The Alpha Tau Omega Chapter at North Carolina A&T State University meets throughout the year under the leadership of elected students. As well as initiating various projects, the chapter disseminates a newsletter. Students interested in joining Chi Sigma Iota must have a 3.5 or better GPA and at least 18 hours of graduate course credit. The Graduate Counseling Association (GCA)

Professional Counseling Student Organization

Originating in 1989, the Graduate Counseling Association (GCA) serves as an official student organization for the counseling students in the Department of Human Development and Services at North Carolina A&T State University. The goals of the organization are as follows:

1. To promote unity, awareness, and understanding within the Department of Human Development and Services as well as the professional community.

2. To provide opportunity for student participation in the decision making process of the University and Department.

3. To assist in the development of self-direction for students through exposure to career opportunities, establishing appropriate credentials, and networking.

Rehabilitation Counseling Association (RCA)

Professional Counseling Student Organization

Formed in 2005, the Rehabilitation Counseling Association (RCA) was created for students to learn more about the profession and to network with local rehabilitation counselors and people with disabilities within their career paths. The mission of the Rehabilitation Counseling Association is to offer opportunities where students may gain increased public understanding of  professional interests by fostering an open forum, promoting and encouraging the development of professional training opportunities for all persons engaged in the counseling of persons with disabilities, contributing to an interdisciplinary approach to the solution of problems in rehabilitation, fostering research to advance knowledge and skills in rehabilitation counseling, and developing relationships that will be beneficial to enhance professional identity.
