North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University
The Teacher Education Council (TEC) is the governance body for all professional education licensure programs on the campus of NC A&T State University. The Council is charged with ensuring the quality of professional education programs through development and implementation of policies that are aligned with state and national standards and regulations.
TEC membership is annually appointed by the Chancellor of the University with representation from the School of Education, the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business and Economics, the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, the School of Technology, and the Graduate School. Each of these academic units house degree programs that lead to professional education licensure. The membership usually consists of: the Dean of the School of Education, the Dean of the Graduate School, the Assistant Dean for Teacher Education and Student Support Services, the Director for Technology and Assessment, coordinators for each licensure program, the chairperson of all departments that house degree programs leading to licensure, and other faculty members and administrators whose roles and responsibilities are instrumental for the ongoing success and development for professional licensure programs and the candidates they serve including, but not limited to: the Director of Internships, the Director of NC Teaching Fellows, and the Coordinator for Professional Development.
The 2009-2010 Teacher Education Council is chaired by the Dean of the School of Education, Dr. Ceola Ross Baber, who is also designated as the campus’ licensure officer by UNC General Administration and NC Department of Public Instruction. |
