Message from Chairperson Dr. John A. Cole

Welcome to the Department of Economics and Transportation/Logistics. The department is committed to student success and to excellence in learning and teaching. Our faculty members are committed to academic involvement in cutting-edge developments in their disciplines.
In the department, we offer rigorous and competitive programs of study at the undergraduate level. Our graduates earn the Bachelor of Science degree by pursuing any of three majors. These majors are:
- Business Economics
- General Economics
- Transportation & Supply Chain Management
Opportunities also exist beyond the undergraduate program. Professionals in such areas as marketing, sales, supply chain management, and other areas management are encouraged to earn the Certificate in Supply Chain Management. Additionally, students seeking a graduate degree may obtain the Master of Science degree in Transportation/Supply Chain Management.
The department maintains a cadre of full-time faculty members, all of whom currently have doctorates from nationally-renowned universities. Thus, we take great pride in developing very current high-quality material to teach our students in a consistently effective manner. Moreover, the department’s quality standards withstand regular critical external reviews as evidenced by the school’s long-standing accreditation by AACSB, International. We are committed to a program of continuous improvement for our faculty members to ensure that we maintain a curriculum that is current and relevant. Our faculty members have a strong collective desire to ensure that graduates are rigorously prepared for marketplace competitiveness.
In closing, I note that students and student success are why we are in business. We invite you to contact us with any questions or to schedule a visit to our department.
Sincerely,
John A. Cole, PhD.
