Transportation Institute
Welcome to the Transportation Institute. Since 1970, the Transportation Institute at North Carolina A&T State University has been a leader in transportation research, education, and technology transfer. Although the Institute does not house an academic program, our activities serve to enhance student learning and faculty development through educational experiences in transportation, research, internships, professional meetings, scholarships and stipends. The Institute also expands faculty research opportunities which provide funded release time, conference travel and summer employment. Indeed, Institute programs create an environment that fosters learning for the 21st century and advances diversity in the transportation workforce. We invite you to join us as we educate the next generation of transportation professionals.

Southeastern Transportation Center (STC)
The Southeastern Transportation Center (STC) is the U.S. DOT University Transportation Center that represents the eight Region IV states -- Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The STC is dedicated to the mission of training professionals to address the transportation needs of the region and nation in the 21st Century.
Operating under the theme "Transportation Safety," the center strives to build a reputation as a national leader in safety research and training in both highway transportation and public transportation modes. Responding to one of the most critical transportation issues throughout the southeast region and nation, the theme of "Transportation Safety" has been selected as an integral component of the educational program.
The University of Tennessee in Knoxville is the STC's lead institution, along with several of the region's most respected universities with major transportation programs:

We believe that attracting talented people into the transportation profession is the key to ensuring safe and efficient transportation now and in the future. To achieve this goal, the STC recruits and sponsors outstanding individuals to pursue graduate degrees and ultimately careers in transportation. These graduate students, who number 50 or more each year, and represent a variety of transportation-related disciplines, are located around the region at the member universities.
The STC also supports a major undergraduate program in transportation, headquartered at North Carolina A&T University. Each year there are 30 or more top undergraduates and graduates in this program, specifically minority and women students. This education program is geared to supply the region's transportation community with talented entry-level professionals, and to provide a "pipeline" of bright individuals for the STC graduate program.
