What is FERPA?
- FERPA is a Federal Law
- Also Known as the Buckley amendment
- Protects the privacy of a students educational records
- Applies to all educational agencies or institutions that receive funds under any program administered by the Secretary of Education
This law gives students four rights:
1. The right to inspect and review educational records
2. The right to seek the amendment of educational records
3. The right to consent to the disclosure of educational records
4. The right to file a complaint with the FERPA Office in Washington, DC
