| Comments: Derek AKA D, was a fun person to be around. His crazy jokes used to leave me feeling like my stomach was about to burst. If you were sad, D knew how to put a smile on your face. He was a "real" individual and none could break that. Truth is, I respected him for that drive. I will miss D like others, and I show the upmost respect and honor to his family. |

| Comments: We as the neighborhood of Kay Street, otherwise known as
"The Village At Northside" would just like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Derrick Hodge along with friends, students and faculty of A&T State University. Derrick was a very nice and respectable young man, always smiling and so friendly to the entire neighborhood. He will be greatly missed. He left one home to go to another where he will smile again forever more. May God help us all thru this. |

| Comments: To the Hodge and NCAT Family, my prayers are with you. My son attends school on this campus. He did not meet Derek personally, but does feel the loss as I am sure many of the other students and faculty do. We send our young adults off to start a life of their own with much love and constant prayer. My visit there from Texas at Orientation made me feel that I was leaving a campus full of MY children. Remember, only God knows what the future holds. He is still in control, even when things do not go the way we wish. Cherish the memories which will give you strength from day to day. God Bless You. And let's continue, together, to Pray for the NCAT Family.

I do not know Derek, but I met him the night of his death. The very next morning I heard the news. I would like to say that God is with you. | Comments: I was very sorry to hear that this gentleman has come and left so soon. Our Lord can only know the reason why he took him so soon. We need to know & trust that Home with our Father is a place that has no worries, no pain, no test to take and no early classes to make. He has left behind a legacy that will will never be forgotten. God bless and take care. A & T Alumni and AKA Zeta Omega Chapter |

| Comments: Deepest sympathy and condolences go out to Derek's family and close friends. I've known Derek since he moved into Aggie Suites in 2005. He was a cool down to earth guy...very REAL. And I loved that about him. I couldn't imagine who would want to take his life right when it was really just beginning. Lil' D is in a better place now and I know he is looking down on all of us...especially his close cousin Charlie. I hope everyone can hold their heads high and take this as a wake up call...you should live life to its fullest.
I LOVE YOU. you will TRULY be missed. |

| Comments: Derek,
I will always remember the times we spent b/w classes in homeroom at SRHS just wild'n out and laughin' and remember you picking on me for how short I was in HS. You always made others laugh.
To Carla Hodge, keep your head up sweety. Just remember Derek is resting in a better place.
"To know God is to trust God" Ps.9:10 I will continue to pray for you and the Hodge family. Derek you will be missed sweetheart. |

| Comments: Knowing D. Hodge as a friend since my freshman year, I can personally say that I am hurt by his passing. I first met him at CP tryouts and we did runway together, and from that point on we have always been friends. He was easy to talk to, encouraging and very outgoing. A friend that I really needed.
You will be missed and your family will be in my prayers. Krista |
