| Comments: I became Derek's advisor only a few months ago in the Center for Academic Excellence. In the few times that Derek came to my office his spirit and energy were always a breath of fresh air. He seemed genuinely happy and content with who he was. He made you feel comfortable and like you had an instant friend. He will be missed as a student and caring human being! May his family only remember their son with love and good memories! I am glad I got to meet you Derek!
