Michael Lasley holds a BME and a MM in Percussion Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG).  He is currently working on a Doctorate in Percussion Performance with a cognate in Percussion Pedagogy and Literature at UNCG.

Michael was a National Finalist in the 2004 Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Young Artist Competition, having claimed first prize in both the North Carolina and Southern Division.  Notably, he has performed as a marimba soloist with the UNCG Symphony Orchestra, UNCG Percussion Ensembles, at the Boston Conservatory, and at the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy.  As an ensemble member, Michael has performed with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, Carolina Pops, North Carolina Symphony, Greensboro Livestock Players, and many others.

Prior to teaching at NC A&T, Michael taught percussion at Brevard College and band at West Montgomery High School and West Middle School.

Michael is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, Music Educators National Conference, and Mu Phi Epsilon.
