Dr. Christina W. Elkins holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music Education and a Doctorate degree in Choral Conducting, which she received from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  Presently, she serves on the music faculty at North Carolina A&T State University where she teaches applied voice, diction, and vocal methods.

 

A native of Greensboro, Christina taught in several public schools.  She taught in both Forsyth and Rockingham Counties at Mineral Springs Middle School, Parkland High School, and Bethany Elementary School.  She served as the Chair of All-County Chorus in Rockingham County for two years.  Christina served as the interim Minister of Music at Muir’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

 

During her studies as a doctoral student at UNCG, Christina taught Women’s Choir, English Diction, Italian Diction, Class Voice, and assisted in both Chorale and Chamber Singers.  She accompanied both the Men’s and Women’s Glee Clubs. 

 

Christina prepared the Women’s Choir in a performance with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra in the spring of 2007.  Together, they performed both the Bruckner Te Deum and the Ninth Symphony by Beethoven. 

 

Professional affiliations include the Music Educator’s National Conference, American Choral Directors Association, the National Scholars Honor Society, and the National Association for Women in Music.
