Mission

The mission of the North Carolina A&T State University Galleries is to display, interpret, collect and preserve the finest examples of artistic achievement by artists and craftspeople of the African diaspora. The University Galleries accomplishes this mission through regular exhibits, educational programming, and campus and community events centered around arts and culture.

Vision Statement

The North Carolina A&T State University Galleries aims to become a premiere, nationally recognized art museum with quality exhibitions and arts programming to complement an extensive collection of art done by artists and artisans of African descent.

Goals and Objectives

The North Carolina A&T State University Galleries has the following goals:

  • To acquire the best example of artwork from artists of African descent, particularly those with North Carolina connections;
  • To encourage and develop aesthetic appreciation and creativity among campus and the local community through its exhibits and collections;
  • To preserve the artistic and cultural treasures of North Carolina A&T State University;
  • To foster learning and understanding of the peoples of African descent through arts related programming and exhibitions;
  • To provide research opportunities to those students with an interest in the arts, history, and historic preservation.
