Dr.
Li-Shiang Tsay earned her
M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and
Information Technology from the University
of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2003 and 2005,
respectively. Her primary research interest
lies in Knowledge Discovery in Databases. She
is particularly interested in developing
algorithms for extracting actionable knowledge
from complex and diverse data sources. Dr.
Tsay’s research has been published in journals
and books including Mining Complex Data,
Foundations of Data Mining, Data Mining:
Foundations and Practice, Encyclopedia of Data
Warehousing and Mining, Journal of Experimental,
Theoretical Artificial Intelligence, Fundamenta
Informaticae Journal, and Decision Support
Systems. Her research has also been presented at
international conferences including IEA/AIE,
IEEE/ICDM/FDM, IEEE/ICDM/MCD, IEEE GrC,
IEEE/WIC/ACM, IIS, ISMIS, NCM, RSKT, and SPIE. She has served and is currently
serving on the Program Committee of
several international conferences, including ISMIS
2006,
IRMA 2007, RSEISP 2007, RSKT 2008, ISMIS 2008, RSCTC
2008, IEEE/ICDM/MCD 2008, ISMIS 2009, RSKT 2009,
NCM 2009, NISS 2009, and AAIA 2009. She is the co-editor of
“Advances in Intelligent Information Systems” in
Springer’s Studies in Computational Intelligence
book series. Dr. Tsay is Member of Editorial
Board of International Journal of Data Mining,
Modelling and Management. She is
an Affiliate Member of the KDD Laboratory UNC –
Charlotte since 2005. She enjoys teaching a wide
variety of Information Technology/Computer
Science courses using any relevant programming
languages. Her teaching interests include (but
are not limited to) Data Mining and Knowledge
Discovery, Knowledge-Based Systems, Web
Intelligent Search, Heuristic Search, and
Database Design and Management. She was an
Assistant Professor of Computer Science at
Hampton University from January 2006 to May
2007. Dr. Tsay joined North Carolina A&T State
University in August 2007 as an Assistant
Professor of Electronics, Computer, and
Information Technology and also serves as the
program coordinator of the Information
Technology Graduate program. In addition,
she is an Associate Graduate Faculty in the
Indiana State University Consortium Ph.D. Degree
Program in Technology Management.
