Five Special Features that Characterize the Program:
Eminent Leaders -
recognized for their prominence and accomplishments as leaders, will bring
relevant perspectives to the core curriculum in the classroom and as mentors.
In addition, their experiences will galvanize the students' paradigm of
leadership.
The Internship -
is a professional practice activity in a leadership environment and is designed
to expose students to current strategies and lead to the dissertation research.
The internship occurs in a recognized business, industry, government or
non-governmental environment that fosters leadership. It provides inquiry,
exploration, and hands-on opportunities to observe and actively engage in
decisions related to leadership.
Dissertation Research -
emphasizes research activities that will accomplish two goals: increase the body
of knowledge on leadership, and expand the understanding of using research as a
leadership tool.
The Center for Creative Leadership -
is an internationally known organization that serves as a resource for the
program. This resource provides students with opportunities to investigate
current research topics, a pool of highly competent adjunct faculty, access to
one of the largest library holdings on leadership, and internship opportunities.
The Interdisciplinary Ph.D. -
in Leadership Studies emphasizes the importance of diversity, ethics,
information technology, informed practice, and research in effective leadership.
