The Broadcast Production Concentration is a comprehensive study of the fundamentals, historical development, practices, and procedures of the radio and television broadcast industry. Intensive course offerings and practical experiences are provided in all areas of radio and television production. The curriculum is designed so that each student is exposed to major elements of broadcasting including but not limited to producing, directing, editing, announcing, writing management, and media ethics. Opportunities are provided to all students who wish to enhance their classroom instruction by working directly with the university radio station, WNAA-FM, or the University Television Studio. These facilities offer ample opportunity to enhance skills in announcing, voice over production, video production and editing, audio production, writing, and on-camera performance. Many students who take advantage of these campus facilities are later able to supplement their income by working with local commercial radio and television stations while completing their course work. Students interested in management, sales, programming, news, photography, engineering, promotions, and community relations with a radio or television station have complemented their production degree by selecting electives in business, electronics, and computer graphics.
