Speech Perception and Auditory Cognition Laboratory
Welcome
...to the Speech Perception and Auditory Cognition Laboratory in the Department of Psychology at North Carolina A&T State University!
How does a person's brain decode the sounds coming out of another person's mouth to receive a meaningful message? This question summarizes the basic focus of our research. We attempt to address the question by studying auditory cognition - the ways in which the brain processes auditory information. Research in our lab consists primarily of:
- experiments in which volunteer participants listen to speech and/or non-speech sounds;
- computational simulations of cognitive processing.
