Summer
Enrollment
F-1 and J-1 students are not required by Immigrations regulations
to register for classes during the summer. It is an option
that many international students take advantage of to meet
academic requirements more quickly or complete thesis/dissertation
projects.
International students who elect to participate in summer enrollment must be prepared for the additional cost for tuition and fees. Your Form I-20 must show validation for 12 months of academic enrollment. This means you will be required to show additional funds for financial support to include summer enrollment.
Contact the ISSO for further details and requirements at isso@ncat.edu.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Any international student who is on campus
working towards their thesis and dissertation projects (during
the summer) are required to register for at least one credit
hour (NO EXCEPTIONS). Any work completed on-campus that will
count towards or academic credit will be earned for degree
completion, requires course enrollment. Those who
enroll during the summer are only eligible to work on-campus
up to 20 hours
per week. The 40 hour per week benefit does not apply with
class enrollment during any semester/session.
Distance Education (On-line Course)
F-1 and J-1 students are eligible for one on-line/distance
education class or 3 credits per semester (session)
to be counted towards the “full course of study” requirement.
An international student must receive approval from an International Advisor in the ISSO by completing a Distance Education Clearance Form for International Students before enrolling in distance education courses. (Note: This form is distributed by ISSO only.)
