The
educational and research programs
at the Department of Industrial and
Systems Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University are
guided by the needs of our constituents.
Organizations
that consistently employ our graduates form a primary constituent group.
The
Department seeks ways to involve such organizations in determining
desired student outcomes and in providing resources to enhance the
educational process.
With
such key employers, the Department pursues active relationships.
It is our desire to develop such a relationship with your
organization. This proposal
suggests several possible methods of formalizing the relationship to
benefit your organization and the Department.
Partnering
Objective:
To
increase student recognition of your Organization and student
preparation for employment with your organization while enhancing the
quality of industrial engineering education within the
North Carolina A&T State University Department of Industrial and
Systems Engineering.
Specifically,
our Department invites your organization to consider participation in
one or more of the following opportunities.
By
participating in such activities, your organization's name will be
prominently displayed in literature distributed by the Department and in
Departmental offices.
Student-focused:
1.
Fund
student scholarship(s)
– Scholarship(s) can be endowed or funded on an annual basis.
2.
Support
a student project
– Project can be for senior capstone design requirement or
a faculty led project using a team of undergraduate and graduate
students.
3.
Sponsor
student activities
– Provide student funding for meeting or travel to conference.
Faculty-focused:
1.
Participate
in supply chain case study development
– An A&T faculty member will work to develop such studies for our
use and use in a high visibility executive education program.
2.
Employ
faculty member in summer
– The faculty member can provide a more knowledgeable match between
your organization and Departmental services.
Employment can be 1 – 3 months and depends on availability.
Facilities-focused:
1.
Sponsor
the Virtual Enterprise
– The “VE” allows all laboratories to use a common database and
similarly functioning application programs as if separate operations
within a manufacturing supply chain.
The VE will be the primary curriculum integration tool, teaching
students supply chain and information systems through visual, practical
exercises. The VE will be
promoted in engineering education literature.
2.
Sponsor
a laboratory
– On a smaller scale, a single VE laboratory can be sponsored.
Available laboratories include Automated Assembly and Packaging
Systems; Ergonomics and Human Factors; Human Machine Interface Systems;
Information Systems; Logistics and Warehousing Systems; Management and
Simulation Systems; Manufacturing Systems; and Product, Process, and
Facilities Systems
Other
opportunities:
1.
Join
the IAG
– Participate in the Industry Advisory Group that oversees
educational programs.
2.
Provide
speakers
– Opportunities for speaking exist for the departmental banquet,
classes, and seminars.
