Incoming Freshmen

In general, incoming students must meet the following criteria in order to be invited to join the Honors Program:

1] A cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.5, or a weighted GPA of 3.7, on a 4.0 scale.

2] SAT scores of at least 1050 on the traditional math and verbal sections of the test. We do not use the score on the new Writing section for admission purposes. Students who score 1200 or above on the traditional math and verbal sections of the SAT are automatically eligible to join the Honors Program as long as they have a cumulative high school weighted GPA of 3.0.

3] If you take the ACT, instead of the SAT, you must earn a minimum score of 23. Students who score 29 or above are automatically eligible to join the Honors Program as long as they have a cumulative high school weighted GPA of 3.0.

Some groups of incoming freshmen are automatically invited to join the Honors Program as long as they earn a minimum high school weighted CGPA of 3.0 and a 1000 SAT score. These groups include public high school Valedictorians/Salutatorians, National Merit/Achievement Scholarship finalists, North Carolina Teaching Fellows, USDA Scholars, and students from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.

Current A&T Students

If you are already attending NCA&TSU you may join the Honors Program if you have a Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above and have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours. However, new members are only accepted through the first semester of their Junior year.

Transfer Students

The A&T Honors Program gladly welcomes eligible transfer students into its ranks. If you were a member of the Honors Program at another institution at the time of your transfer to A&T, you are automatically eligible to join the A&T Honors Program. Honors courses earned at your previous institution will be counted towards completing one or more Honors Program tracks here at A&T. If you were attending a community college and were a member of Phi Theta Kappa, you are eligible to join the Honors Program upon admission to A&T. Otherwise, you must wait until you have earned a minimum of twelve credit hours at A&T with a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Transfer students may be admitted to the A&T Honors Program through the second semester of their junior year.
