Dance Concentration

(Major Code 0305)

All dance concentration majors must audition before admission into the program.  All majors are required to participate in on-campus and community dance company productions as performers and/or as technical assistants. Students also must successfully complete 24 semester hours from the following course options:

DANC 110   Introduction to Ballet 1 cr.
DANC 200   Beginning Modern Dance 1 cr.
DANC 210   Dance Company and Repertory (at least 2 semesters) 4 cr.
DANC 220   Dance Appreciation 3 cr.
DANC 300   Dunham Technique I 2 cr.
DANC 301   Dunham Technique II 2 cr.
         
DANC 330   Dances of Africa and the Caribbean  
   

OR

  2 cr.
DANC 331   World Dance and Culture  
         
         
DANC 450   Blacks in Western Theatrical Dance 3 cr.
DANC 500   Dance Ethnography 3 cr.
DANC 550   Summer Abroad 3 cr.
