The undergraduate educational program for majors in History is designed for students preparing for professional careers in law, religion, the mass media, journalism, archives and museums, public affairs, foreign service, and for graduate programs in history and related fields. The program of study for a teaching major in History is designed for those students whose professional goal is teaching in secondary schools. Its curriculum is planned so that students acquire a broadly based knowledge in history and related social sciences and meet the requirements for the Teacher Education Program. A minimum of 128 semester hours of credit is required for the baccalaureate degree and is distributed in the following manner:

33 semester hours at the 200 level or above with a grade of "C" or better in each course.
Social Sciences
18 semester hours of credit with a grade of "C" or better in each course. These hours must be distributed in the following fields: Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Political Science, and Sociology.
