Mandatory Health Insurance Requirement

Students are required to submit proof of health insurance for each fall semester they attend the University.

Students are automatically charged $283.50 for the Student Health Insurance Plan when they register for the semester.  Student must provide proof of insurance to have the cost removed.

The following students are required to have health insurance:

            ►    Undergraduate students enrolled in six or more credit hours

            ►    Graduate students in a degree-seeking program with six or more credit hours

            ►     International students

How to complete your insurance waiver:

1. Go to www.studentinsurance.com and complete the waiver form. Students will be required to supply health insurance information for verification of coverage. Print and keep the confirmation number provided.

2. Pearce and Pearce will provide an e-mail notification verifying receipt of insurance information and approval or denial of waiver.

3. The $283.50 charge of insurance should be credited to student’s account 5 business days prior to the beginning of class.  Contact the Student Insurance Office at the Health Center (Sebastian) if there are any questions.

4. Waivers submitted during the fall semester are also valid for the spring semester. When waiving, complete the “spring/summer waiver page” when prompted.  Cancellations of waivers and enrollments in the student insurance plan are managed by the Student Health Center Insurance Office.

5. Waivers are valid for the current academic year.  Enrollment is required each fall semester for continuing students.  Students enrolling for the first time during spring semester must follow the above procedure.

1. Fall insurance coverage is effective 08/15/09 thru 01/02/10. In order to continue coverage, student must be enrolled for the spring semester to reactivate policy online. Spring coverage begins 01/03/10 thru 08/14/10 for $283.50.

2. Students are encouraged to read carefully information explaining the insurance plan. It details coverage, benefits, policy exclusions, out of pocket costs and pre-existing conditions. The official benefit brochure is available at the Student Health Center or at www.studentinsurance.com.  Students may also view on-line by going to:  www.ncat.edu/health.  Click on “student health insurance” and follow the link.
