Eligibility of Patients for Services
Currently enrolled students are eligible for health care by appointment or on an urgent care basis in the Student Health Service if they have paid the student health fee as a part of their general university tuition fees. The cost of services of off-campus physicians, Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, and agencies other than the Student Health Service are not included in the health fee. A special health insurance plan may be purchased through the Student Health Service, but is not included in the health fee.
Summer: During the summer months, students who are not enrolled in the summer session but who were enrolled the previous academic year and carried the Student Health Insurance may visit the Health center.
Students enrolling in the following academic year are eligible for care by paying the health fee or a professional fee each visit and any additional charges.
Post Graduation: Due to anti-trust laws we cannot provide medical services to students who are no longer enrolled in classes. Students who are no longer enrolled in classes at NC A&T SU but need a follow up visit will be allowed a grace period of four months post graduation. NC A&T SU Graduates who are no longer enrolled will not be eligible for care after the 4 months grace period. At the time of the follow up visit, these students will be advised to secure the services of their own health care provider for any additional health care needs, including physicals and gynecological examinations. SHS will assist with providing the students with the SHS Resource List and recommendations. SHS will supply referral information as needed. Persons no longer enrolled in the university may request copies of their medical records at any time
Students' Spouses and Dependents: Spouses and dependents are not eligible for services at Student Health Service.
NC A&T SU Employee Eligibility
NC A&T SU Employees are not generally eligible fore medical services. However, courtesies are extended at the Executive Director’s or Supervisor's discretion. These services will be provided by appointment and through our urgent care clinic during normal hours. Service is not provided on evenings, weekends or holidays. Care may include a provider visit for diagnosis and assessment, nursing visits, and services for pharmacy, and lab departments. The Student Health Service does not follow workman's compensation cases; work place illness/injuries cannot be initially evaluated at the Student Health Service.
Employee Spouses and Dependents: Spouses and dependents are not eligible for services at Student Health Service.
