The Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC) is the
premier academic competition among the nation's Historically Black
Colleges & Universities. 64 teams are invited to the National
Championship Tournament (NCT) to compete for the National Championship.
This year, the NCT will be held on March 26-30, 2009 in Orlando,
Florida.
HCASC is a quiz bowl style game where two teams of
four players each answer questions pertaining to various subjects such as:
- U.S. History
- Current Events
- Sports
- Literature
- Fine Arts
- Mythology
- African-American History
- Geography
- Pop Culture
- Science
The game is played in two
eight-minute halves.
There
are two types of questions:
- Toss-up questions are worth
10 points, and any member of the team can answer on a toss-up
- Bonus questions are worth 20,
25, or 30 points, and the team can work together to figure out
the answer.
You are
allowed to buzz in and answer a question while the moderator is
reading the question. If you answer the question incorrectly,
you will get a 5 point deduction and the question will be
finished for the other team.
