NCA&T ASME GOALS
OVERRIDING GOAL
That the ASME, while serving the technical interests of its members, be
increasingly professional in its outlook, sensitive to the engineer's
responsibility to society - including industry, government, academia, and
the general public. And that the ASME dedicate itself to the leadership
role in making technology a true servant of all people.
THE PUBLIC INTEREST

To broaden the horizons of and give support to individual
engineers while fostering ethical and effective means by which they may
relate their work and talents to the interests of humanity.
Goal 2:
To continue to develop, express, and support the ASME positions
on public issues of engineering relevance through authorized representatives.
PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF ENGINEERS AND ENGINEERING
Goal 3:
To foster communication and collaboration among engineers,
other professions, industry, government, academia, and the general public for
mutual understanding of the true role and contributions of engineers and
technology to the well-being of the U.S. and the world community.

research, development, and demonstration; to identify present, new, or
unfulilled needs; to publicize these assessments; and to promote
vigorously the organization of research, development and demonstration
activities leading to useful products and intellectual properties.
CODE OF STANDARDS
Goal 8:

and promoting the use of codes and standards under the ASME jurisdiction
and to work in cooperation with other domestic and international entities
to develop global codes and standards.
