Merit Scholarships
North Carolina A&T State University is committed to academic excellence. Therefore, the institutional merit scholarships are based on academic achievement, standardized test scores, and community involvement. Please contact financial aid office to determine if scholarship application is required for institutional merit scholarships listed below. Please read applications carefully for understanding of all required information needed for the scholarship. Freshman Merit Scholarships - Alumni Association Scholarship (Application)
The Alumni Scholarship recognizes exceptional academic talent and ability. This scholarship represents the Alumni Association’s pledge to assist the University in attracting quality students. Minimum qualifications include having a 3.0 or higher high school GPA on a 4.0 scale and a 1000 or higher SAT score (or ACT Score of at least 25). The application deadline is February 15th of your high school senior year.

Chuck Burch Scholarship The Chuck Burch Scholarship is committed to assisting students from the Dallas/ Ft. Worth, Texas Metropolis areas. This scholarship is for high school students from this area that have performed well academically as well as participated in extracurricular activities and display a financial need. This scholarship is valued at $2000 for the freshman year only.
Phil Chang Scholarship - Phil Chang Memorial Scholarship (Application)
Phil Chang Memorial Scholarship (Article) Mr. Chong Pil "PHil" Chang rose from being a poor Korean immigrant 24 years ago to a successful businessman, with his resources he planned to "give back to the community". In memory of Mr. Chang, beginning in the Fall of 2003, the Chang family established the Chang Memorial Scholarship which is awarded to students attending North Carolina A&T State University. To apply you must be a resident of Guilford or Forsyth County North Carolina. The applicant mush have a minimum 900 SAT score and/or 25 or higher ACT score. The student must be a U.S. Citizen, and must be willing to participate in a two week cultural and business tour of the Republic of Korea between the summer of the Junior and Senior year. This scholarship is renewable and valued at $2,500 a year contingent that the scholarship requirements are met. The application deadline is July 1st.
Freshman, Transfer, and Currently Enrolled Student Merit Scholarships
Cincinnati Scholarship-(Link) The Cincinnati Scholarship is committed to assisting students from the Cincinnati area. Incoming freshman must have a 3.0 or higher GPA and minimum 920 SAT 1 score and 21 minimum ACT score to apply. Cincinnati native transfer students must be admitted and submit their transcript for consideration. Currently enrolled A&T Cincinnati native students must have a minimum 2.5 or higher GPA and be in good standing with the university. The application deadline is June 15th.
Tidwell Family Scholarship-(Link) The Tidwell Family is committed to helping students currently majoring in Architectural Engineering, Applied Sociology, Business Administration, or Economics to successfully reach their educational goals. This scholarship is valued at $500 a year. The application deadline is February 12th.
Other Institutional Merit Scholarships The application process for new students to apply for other institutional funds is explained in detail under How to Apply for Scholarships. The application for currently enrolled students to apply for any possible institutional scholarships is our University Scholarship Application. The interested student is encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the NC A&T Financial Aid Office. Priority is given to those students that apply with FAFSA before March 15th. The University Scholarship applications must be returned to the Scholarship Office at the Dowdy Building, 1601 E. Market Street, Greensboro NC 27411. Please take note of the application deadline to be considered for scholarships.

Spring Semester Deadline February 15th
These institutional scholarships are primarily based on academic merit with a consideration to the student’s financial need. Chosen applicants will receive a written notification of a scholarship award from the Scholarship office. For consideration there is a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and minimum 1000 SAT or 23 ACT score. For currently enrolled students there is a 3.0 minimum GPA requirement for consideration. Chosen applicants vary depending on funding availability and the pool of qualified applicants.
