Minutes from the July 30 Teleconference

Discussion

• Matt introduced Ed Knuth, a student working with him on the sensor web. Ed talked briefly about his interests: one of the things he'll be working on is developing web services for the sensor data. That work will start in the fall. Ed is currently involved in bringing the sensors on-line and making sure they work properly.
• Albert introduced Kawana Fuller. She told us that she will be a senior this year, and is a Computer Science major. She has been working on the ISET project during the summer.
• We discussed the plans we have made so far for the Aug. 13-14 meeting.

  • We will have ISET meetings Monday and part of Tuesday. We have set up a tour of ESRL for Tuesday afternoon at 3:00. Matt is working on an agenda for the meetings. He mentioned that Josh Jones is working on modeling in the Lemon Glacier area, and perhaps he could give a presentation of his current work. Josh might be able to work with Steinbach and Kumar on correlation techniques for the UAS data.
  • Kawana will visit GSD on Wednesday as well, and MarySue is in the process of setting up additional demos and possibly meetings with scientists in Kawana's areas of interest.
• We discussed the status of the prototype. Matt said that wind data can be accessed through the UAS web site. He has been trying to contact Carl Dierking to discuss a couple of issues. Ed will be GSD's contact for accessing the sensor and wind data.
• GSD will investigate progress on the Open Geospatial Consortium work currently being conducted in the lab with the goal of understanding how this work can be applied to the proposed ISET work.
• Michael Steinbach and Vipin Kumar have expressed interest in collaborating with our group. Tracy, Tom and/or MarySue will contact Mike to begin discussions. We are still interested in bringing in Homaifar as well.
• Albert asked if we had any images for the ISET web page, and if so, would we please send them to him.
