ISET/DDF Pilot Project Meeting, Boulder, CO, August 13-14
Purpose:
An application to demonstrate the use of OGC, Shaders, and EIS concepts
in a real-world problem.
Description/Demo Script:
Data Access/Visualization:
-
Show SEAMONSTER Data viewed on Pilot Platform (Jython/OPENGL). (KML)
-
Show Topo, Wind, and Input Snow depth grid on Pilot Platform. (WFS/WCS?)
Analysis:
-
Run Shader (GPU calculations on graphics card) to produce new Input
Snow depth.
Prediction:
-
Show Time series comparison of Model output (accessed via OGC service)
between various inputs to learn about "What if" scenarios
Implementation details/tasks:
-
(Done) NOAA (Ashvin/Tom): Provide instructions for Pilot Platform
Installation for Ed/Kawana.
-
NOAA/Kawana/Ed: Ingest SEAMONSTER data into Pilot Platform and display.
-
Ed: Develop WFS (web service) for Glacial Melt Model.
-
Time series widget for viewing/comparing Glacial Melt Model output.
- Ed: Browser-based
- NOAA: From pilot platform
-
(Done) Eran/Josh: Provide snow depth grid(s) to NOAA.
-
NOAA: Access Topo and Wind grids (preferably in OGC format).
-
Eran: Send articles about deriving snow depth to NOAA.
-
NOAA/Kawana: Write shaders to compute snow depth grid using alternative
algorithms integrating Wind and Topo and send to Josh to run the Glacier Melt
Model.
-
NOAA/Ed/Kawana: Compare Model output from various inputs.
